You are a giant slayer! All true spiritual warfare ultimately centers around the placement of the Son of God in our lives. Is He the priority and has first place in your life? Spiritual warfare is not about you and me. It is ultimately about the man Christ Jesus. Effective warfare is about where the Son of God is in our lives, family, cities, and nations!
The enemy uses the giant of distraction to keep us from intimacy with God and concentrate on side issues. He tries to get us to believe his lies that we don’t have enough time to spend with God and attempt to get us to focus on the other tasks of our day. He also uses the distraction to keep us from spending time with the Lord and deal with the hurts and pain we are experiencing.
What is the giant of the distraction using in your life to keep you from experiencing intimacy with God and the abundant life Jesus came to give us? I have had to deal with the giant of distraction, drawing me to focus on the tasks of my day. But I learned that spending time with the Lord first helped me order my day according to His plans and purposes for my life, which brought me joy and fulfillment. Spending time with the Lord is a great threat to the powers of darkness. It’s not about how much time we spend, but it’s how much focus we give Him. The greatest weapon of spiritual warfare is God Himself. We must dwell in the secret place of the Most High, abiding in His presence (Psalm 91).
One of the most powerful weapons of spiritual warfare is forgiveness. The giant of unforgiveness wants to hold us in bondage by poisoning our spirit and destroying our faith. Faith works by love (Galatians 5:6), and refusing to forgive is unloving. Therefore, unforgiveness short-circuits our faith. We are to walk in love (1n Corinthians 13:1-7) because God is love, and when we’re operating outside of love, we’re not operating in Him. (Mark 12:30 – 31; John 13:34). We can forgive others because God has forgiven us and placed His love inside us (Romans 5:5).
Violating the law of love not only hinders our faith but the supernatural operations of the Holy Spirit. We must guard against the obvious and the little unforgiveness and offenses that don’t seem big enough to matter. They can clog up our hearts and spirit, hinder our prayers, and stop the flow of the Spirit in our lives.
The giant of disappointment hits us all. The enemy tries to magnify the weaknesses of others by attempting to get our eyes on them and off of Jesus. This can happen in our families, workplaces, and even the government. Very often, this occurs through the power of offense to get us into unforgiveness, which develops into a bitterroot resulting in bad fruit that defiles many (Hebrews 12:15). We can respond to disappointment by keeping our eyes on Jesus, walking in love, forgiving, and not taking offense. There are many opportunities to take offense, but we don’t have to take it. Choose to forgive everyone every day, even before something happens!
Another tactic of the enemy is using the giant of delay to weaken us and wear us out. He wants us to get weary so that we will quit right before our breakthrough. I know I have experienced this giant in my life dealing with sickness and disease, relationships, finances, etc. I’m sure you have experienced this giant as well. We must stand on God’s Word, with His armor on, and apply the blood of Jesus.
The giant of deception comes to derail God’s purposes in our lives. Its goal is to use the spirit of seduction and deception to lure us from a position of stability into a position of instability. The enemy uses deception to draw us away from God’s grace into legalistic or religious rules. He also tries to deceive us into hyper-grace where we will do what is right in our own eyes. Last week we talked about how we need to stay and walk in the truth, which is the Word of God so that we will not walk in deception.
The giant of lack comes against us to shut down our ability to dream with God. The giant of lack causes disappointment and discouragement. It establishes a poverty mindset that affects our finances, time, and resources. In the presence of God, there is everything we need to fulfill our destiny. There is no lack in the glory and the love of God! There is abundant supply to fulfill every part of our destiny. Receive His love and declare the promises of God over every lack.
The Giants of darkness and despair are trying to overwhelm us through the chaos and the hopelessness we see around us. Many things happen in our lives that can mark and affect us. Everything we are walking through and that is happening in the world today breaks the heart of Father God. His heart breaks for everyone in oppression and darkness. God doesn’t ignore our suffering. He turns His heart towards us and hears us and the horrors in the world today.
What is God’s response to this darkness and chaos in our world? He out dreams everything through His love, and He wants us to use our faith and imagination to see the same results He has declared! His love believes in a future that is glorious and filled with hope. We must snap out of every lie that has put hopelessness, fear, discouragement, and despair upon us. We must arise! Our cries rise before the throne of God. He carries our broken hearts and wants us to be the instruments for bringing justice and healing to the world. God has raised up an army to bring these giants down (Isaiah 6:3-8; Jeremiah 1:4-10).
Arise, shine, for your light has come! And the glory of the LORD is risen upon you. For behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and deep darkness the people; but the LORD will arise over you, and His glory will be seen upon you. The Gentiles shall come to your light, and kings to the brightness of your rising. Isaiah 60:1 – 3
Violence shall no longer be heard in your land, neither wasting nor destruction within your borders, but you shall call your walls Salvation and your gates Praise. Isaiah 60:18
Jesus taught us to pray because He will fulfill it (Matthew 6:10). As the sons of God, we partner with Him until the restoration of all things is fulfilled. Begin to allow yourself to see that heaven is established on earth in your imagination.
He has told us that we will disciple nations (Matthew 28:19-20) and that every ruler will worship and obey Him. His kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and He has turned this kingdom over to His people (Daniel 7:27).
The weapons that God has given us against these giants are His promises, prophecies, and our sanctified imagination. We need to dream on His level, greater than we dare to imagine!
Prayer
So I kneel humbly in awe before the Father of our Lord Jesus, the Messiah, the perfect Father of every father and child in heaven and on the earth. And I pray that He would unveil within you the unlimited riches of His glory and favor until supernatural strength floods your innermost being with His divine might and explosive power.
Then, by constantly using your faith, the life of Christ will be released deep inside you, and the resting place of His love will become the very source and root of your life. Then you will be empowered to discover what every holy one experiences – the great magnitude of the astonishing love of Christ in all its dimensions. How deeply intimate and far-reaching is his love! How enduring and inclusive it is! Endless love beyond measurement that transcends our understanding – this extravagant love pours into you until you are filled to overflowing with the fullness of God!
Never doubt God’s mighty power to work in you and accomplish all this. He will achieve infinitely more than your greatest request, your most unbelievable dream, and exceed your wildest imagination! He will outdo them all, for His miraculous power constantly energizes you. Ephesians 3:14 – 20 TPT
