How to Have Peace with God

God loves you, and He wants you to live in peace with Him and to receive eternal life to live with Him forever and have abundant life now!

We have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. Romans 5:1

“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” John 3:16

For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. Romans 3:23

But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:8

Our sin separates us from God. Jesus Christ is the only answer to this problem of separation from God. He is the Son of God and came into the world as a man. He fulfilled God’s righteous requirement on the cross because He was sinless. He did no sin but became sin for us. He died the death we deserved because the penalty for sin is death.

For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 6:23

God’s justice was satisfied because Jesus took all the righteous vengeance of God’s wrath for the punishment of our sin and unlawlessness on Himself at the cross. He shed His blood for us to give us right standing with God for without the shedding of blood there is no remission or cancellation of sins (Hebrews 9:22). Jesus died on the cross but God raised Him up on the third day (Acts 10:40).

To Him all the prophets witness that, through His Name, whoever believes in Him will receive remission of sins. Acts 10:43

Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other Name under heaven, given among men by which we must be saved. Acts 4:12

That if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. Romans 10:9, 10

For whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved. Romans 10:13.

God has provided a way to bridge the gap between us and Him through Jesus Christ by His death and resurrection! But we must make the choice to put our faith and trust in Jesus Christ alone for our salvation. Salvation is not a goal to be achieved but a gift to be received. It is all about God’s grace which is His love through Jesus Christ and the unearned, undeserved, unmerited favor that He freely gives without demanding anything from us in return. Salvation is a free gift from God and we can’t earn it! All we need to do is receive it by grace through faith.

For by grace you have beensaved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast. Ephesians 2:8, 9

When you believe in Jesus and acknowledge Him to be your Savior and Lord, the Holy Spirit comes to reside inside you and you become a new creation in Christ! He changes you from the inside out. You don’t have to clean yourself up first. We don’t have the power in ourselves to stop sinning. But we do need to have a repentant heart concerning our sin and understand that it keeps us or separates us from God.

Repentance in the Bible is the Greek word metanoia, which means to change your mind; about God and your sin. You must have a desire to turn from your sin and turn to God (Matthew 3:2; 4:17). Godly sorrow leads to repentance (2 Corinthians 7:10) when you realize that you have sinned against God who is Holy and good and that you need a Savior because you cannot save yourself. It is the goodness of God that leads men to repentance (Romans 2:4).

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. 2 Corinthians 5:17

Receive Jesus into your heart as your Savior and He will change you. There is forgiveness available to all at the cross – come as you are! This is the starting place to receive all that He is and wants to give to you so you can have eternal life forever and abundant life now!

If you would like to experience the love of God and to have peace with Him through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, you can pray this suggested prayer out loud right now. You can also pray in your own words. Remember, it is not words or prayer alone that will save you. Prayer is a way to reach out to the Lord and must be done in faith (completely trusting in Him alone to save you). He even gives us His faith (Ephesians 2:8, 9; Romans 12:3; Hebrews 12:2). Christ will save you when you ask Him believing that He will. Faith is not a feeling but simply believing God by taking Him at His Word and receiving His gift of Salvation.

Heavenly Father,

Your Word says that whoever calls on the Name of the Lord shall be saved. I ask You to forgive me for my sins. I repent and turn from them and turn to You. I am calling on You and ask Jesus to come into my heart and be Lord over my life. I believe that Jesus died on the cross and shed His blood for me. I believe in my heart that You raised Him from the dead and He is alive today. Thank you for forgiving my sins and giving me the Holy Spirt to live inside of me. Fill me with Your Holy Spirit and Your healing power in my life. I now belong to You. Help me to live for You and obey You all the days of my life.

In Jesus name, Amen.

When we receive Jesus as our Savior, we receive His righteousness and God’s favor of all His Blessings. This changes everything. He is a God of love and wants to bless us. Are you ready to receive it? Our part is to believe and receive by faith! Faith allows God to bless us. We need to see that God wants to Bless us (Genesis 1:28)!

In other words, we have all the Blessings bestowed on mankind by God in Christ Jesus through the Holy Spirit (i.e. healing, grace, deliverance, preservation, protection, provision, righteousness, etc.).

He loves us and any area of salvation needed He brings to us. This is the day of our visitation or salvation (2 Corinthians 6:2). He doesn’t push you. He has provided for us but we must receive the Blessings He freely gives. He waits for our consent to allow Him to give us all that He is! Jesus came to give us abundant and eternal life.

Jesus saidThe thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.” John 10:10

He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life. These things I have written to you who believe in the Name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life, and that you may continue to believe in the Name of the Son of God. 1 John 5:12, 13
