Did you know that God is our strength? He wants to show Himself strong on our behalf. We can cry out to Him, and He will hear us, strengthen us, and deliver us from our trouble! He gives us His Word on it! What does strength mean? It is the quality of being physically strong, the influence or power that a person, company or country possesses, and the degree of intensity of a feeling or belief.
We see throughout the book of Psalms multiple declarations by the psalmist of this truth. I recently had a revelation of God’s strength in my life relating to healing. I had been listening to Joseph Prince’s teaching on healing, and he spoke about receiving strength in coordination with God’s healing. I then went and looked up many scriptures on strength to build up my faith in God based on His Word. I could see how strength and healing are related, but I also noticed that we could receive strength in any circumstance we needed it!
Our world has been in turmoil these last few months, but God wants to assure us that He will give us the strength and grace we need to come out of these circumstances victorious and having grown in our relationship and trust in Him. We just need to ask for His strength and receive it. We are not to depend on our power. When we depend on our strength, that is pride, which thinks, “I can do it on my own independent of God. I don’t need Him”.
Well, if that’s the way you want to do it, God will allow that. But hopefully, before it is too late, you will find in your struggles that what you have isn’t good enough. Proverbs 16:18 says that pride goes before destruction and a haughty spirit before a fall. We need God’s strength. We even need His strength and grace to love Him and others (Mark 12:30-31). He is all-powerful, all-knowing, and is involved in the affairs of the earth. He is just waiting for someone who belongs to Him as a son or daughter of the kingdom to ask for His help and strength and pray that His will would be done here on earth as it is in heaven.
Let your faith arise as you read and meditate on these scriptures that declare God is our strength in times of trouble!
God is our refuge and strength; a very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, even though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea; though its waters roar and be troubled, though the mountains shake with its swelling. Selah Psalm 46:1 – 3 (NKJV)
My soul melts from heaviness; strengthen me according to Your word. Psalm 119:28 (NKJV)
I will love you, O LORD, my strength. The LORD is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold. I will call upon the LORD, who is worthy to be praised; so shall I be saved from my enemies. It is God who arms me with strength and makes my way perfect. For You have armed me with strength for the battle; You have subdued under me those who rose up against me. Psalm 18:1 – 3, 32, 39 (NKJV)
Strengthen the weak hands, and make firm the feeble knees, Say to those who are fearful-hearted, “Be strong, do not fear! Behold, your God will come with vengeance, with the recompense of God; He will come and save you.” Isaiah 35:3 – 4 (NKJV)
Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, yes I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand. Isaiah 41:10 (NKJV)
He gives power to the weak, and to those who have no might, He increases strength. Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall. But those who wait on the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint. Isaiah 40:29 – 31 (NKJV)
The LORD is my strength and song, and He has become my salvation. Psalm 118:14 (NKJV)
Then he said to them, “Go your way, eat the fat, drink the sweet, and send portions to those for whom nothing is prepared; for this day is holy to our Lord. Do not sorrow, for the joy of the LORD is your strength.” Nehemiah 8:10 (NKJV)
And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strenght is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore, most gladly, I will rather boast in my infirmities, in reproaches, in needs, in persecutions, in distresses, for Christ’s sake. For when I am weak, then I am strong. 2 Corinthians 12:9-10 (NKJV)
I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. Philippians 4:13 (NKJV)
Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. Ephesians 6:10 – 11 (NKJV)
The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in Him, and I am helped; therefore, my heart greatly rejoices, and with my song, I will praise Him. The LORD is their strength, and He is the saving refuge of His anointed. Psalm 28:7 – 8 (NKJV)
Your sandals shall be iron and bronze; As your days, so shall your strength be. Deuteronomy 33:25 (NKJV)
My prayer for you:
I pray that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with might through His Spirit in the inner man, that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and depth and height – to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge; that you may be filled with all the fullness of God. Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen. Ephesians 3:16 – 21 (NKJV)
