Believing in healing is not enough. You must believe it is God’s will to heal you! To discern God’s will for us today, we can read His will, as revealed through the Bible, the Word of God. God’s Word is His will.
So, what is God’s will? We can see from the prayer Jesus taught us, “Your kingdom come. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven” (Matthew 6:10). Heaven doesn’t have any sickness or disease.
And Jesus, God come in the flesh, is the expressed will of God in action as Jesus came to reveal God the Father (John 1:1,14; 5:19; 10:30, 38). God never changes (Malachi 3:6).
Throughout the Gospels, we see that Jesus healed all who came to Him. There are also accounts in the Gospels of individual healings (Matthew 8:5-13; 9:27-31; 15:21-28; Mark 5:21-42).
When evening had come, they brought to Him many who were demon-possessed. And He cast out the spirits with a word, and healed all who were sick, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Isaiah the prophet, saying: “He Himself took our infirmities and bore our sicknesses.” Matthew 8:16-17
And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all kinds of sickness and all kinds of disease among the people. Then His fame went throughout all Syria; and they brought to Him all sick people who were afflicted with various diseases and torments, and those who were demon-possessed, epileptics, and paralytics; and He healed them. Matthew 4:23-24
When He had come down from the mountain, great multitudes followed Him. And behold, a leper came and worshiped Him, saying, “Lord, if You are willing, You can make me clean.” Then Jesus put out His hand and touched him, saying, “I am willing; be cleansed.” Immediately his leprosy was cleansed. Matthew 8:1-3
So, we can see in the Bible that Jesus is willing to heal, and He heals. Jesus said that healing is the children’s bread (Mark 7:27), and we are God’s sons and daughters! So you may be asking, “I know Jesus went about healing people in His day, but is healing for today, and is He willing to heal me?”
Jesus still heals today because “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever” (Hebrews 13:8). Christ’s ministry did not change after His ascension but continued through the Apostles, His disciples (Acts 3:6-8; 5:16), and us, the body of Christ, His church (Mark 16:15-18).
Remember, God’s Word is His will. His will provides salvation, preservation, deliverance, and total well-being, including healing for the spirit, soul, and body. And Jesus, God come in the flesh, is the will of God in action. Therefore, Jesus is willing to heal everyone, including us!
We must not only recognize that it is God’s will to heal, but also understand that His promises to heal in the Scriptures reveal to us that His will is intended for us personally (2 Peter 1:3-4). We don’t pray for physical healing using the faith-destroying phrase, “If it be Your will,” because we know it is His will.
