Heavenly Mantles

We must discern the prophetic time, the times, and the seasons. In the Bible, these times are called Kairos, “a moment of time.” We do not want to miss the time of our visitation because it will affect our future.

In their Empower 2000 webinar, Recognizing Your Mantle, Dr. Malick and Beverly Watkins explain three things concerning mantles: 1) We each have an assignment or unique role in God’s vision for humanity. 2) There is a corresponding seat of authority for every assignment. 3) Every seat of authority comes with a mantle. Mantles are connected to assignments but not necessarily ministry assignments. They could be in the Seven Mountains of societal influence (media, arts & entertainment, government, education, religion, family, business), our workplace marketplace, or our homes.

A mantle is a spiritual uniform indicating authority and power for completing our assignment. It can be seen in the spirit realm; sometimes, we can see it on people. Mantles originate in heaven. Everything we need for our assignment is included in the mantle. A mantle is God’s sovereign authority, equipment, and heaven’s resources coming upon your life. It can grow as you align with it.

We see examples of mantles in the Bible. Jesus had a mantle and took the seat of authority when He sat down after speaking to the people in the synagogue after reading from Luke 4. Elisha received Elijah’s mantle (2 Kings 2:8–14). Paul had a mantle that accompanied his assignment (Acts 26:12-20). Saul had other plans, but the heavenly vision he had transformed his life, and he became Paul, the Apostle of Jesus Christ.

There is a level of power connected to the call and assignment that has been given. Even in the parable of the talents in Matthew 25, God gives to each one according to his own ability. The mantle we carry and the power level of it can determine what we have been given authority over. As we become faithful to using what we have, He will entrust us with more!

Every believer is eligible for a mantle and could have more than one. A mantle is not connected to a person but a seat of authority. We can have a mantle extending over a lifetime or with multiple assignments, as we see in Joseph’s life. He had different assignments and seats of authority based on where he was, whether in Potiphar’s house, prison, or the palace, where he ended up in his life assignment seat. The Lord is using assignments to train us as He moves us into our life assignment seat.

We must choose to serve the Lord. He will never control us. Surrender and consecration to Him will qualify us to carry the mantles the Lord ordains, as well as having a hunger and thirst for them and being rightly positioned.

We have a call upon our lives, but we must be willing to pay the cost associated with carrying the mantles of the Lord. We are the ones who must be changed and prepared to fit the mantle, not the mantle to fit us.

The Lord wants to give us mantles to fulfill our call and purpose in life. However, one of the reasons we lack mantles to accomplish our assignment is the devil has a legal case against us in the Courts of Heaven. But we can step into the Courts of Heaven and renounce any legal claims the devil has against us, and then we can receive our assigned mantles. When we function within our seat of authority and mantles the Lord has given us, His kingdom will is carried out and our lives fulfilled.

God intends to make known to principalities and powers His manifold wisdom through the church (Ephesians 3:10–12). Our job is to counteract the devil’s assignments with heavenly wisdom through heavenly mantles.

The devil puts people in seats of authority to fulfill his agenda. Demonic entities work behind the scenes, carrying out the devil’s agenda. We can see this in our culture today, whether in the government, education, media, or any place there are issues where someone in leadership is speaking to the public against God’s truth and purposes for humanity.

Satan is going for a seat of authority to take over the world through the spirit of the antichrist. The church must take its seats of authority, be mantled, and restrain that spirit. Intercession is needed to hold back some things the enemy wants to do to bring destruction. God is looking for those who will stand in the gap (like Rees Howells in WWII). We must pray and take authority over the spirit of deception in our society.

We can pray for the removal of people in seats of authority placed by Satan and for positioning God’s chosen people in their seats of authority.

One of the reasons Jesus came was to give us back our authority and show us how to use it. Jesus disarmed all principalities and powers, triumphing over them through the cross. He stripped Satan of all his authority, and Jesus gave us His authority and power over the enemy (Matthew 28:18; Luke 10:19).

As the bride of Christ, we are fully presentable and ready to cooperate and partner with Him. We are to have the same mind that Christ had. He humbled Himself and became a man to die for us. He was obedient to the point of death on the cross (Philippians 2:5–8). We are to be clothed with humility, for God resists the proud but gives grace to the humble (1 Peter 5:5).

Therefore, since Christ suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves also with the same mind, for he who has suffered in the flesh has ceased from sin, that he no longer should live the rest of his time in the flesh for the lusts of men, but for the will of God. 1 Peter 4:1–2

We have died to fleshly, carnal things, but we are alive in our spiritual nature in purity and holiness.

There is a corresponding anointing and grace or enablement to operate in and carry the mantle God desires to give us for our assignment and seat of authority. We must learn to steward it well. The anointing cannot be put on the flesh. Therefore, we cannot live fleshly lives and expect to be anointed. Because we died with Christ, we reckon ourselves to be dead to sin but alive to God in Christ Jesus our Lord.

The call of the church is to be cleansed, washed, and filled with God’s glory, to release His divine wisdom, and to set people free from darkness through the seat of authority and the mantle He has given you, or seats of authority and mantles you are aligned with!

We must lay aside the old to receive the new. We must take off the garments of the old season. There is a seat of authority and mantle reserved for you! We receive our mantles by faith, just like everything we receive from the Lord.

Are you willing to partner with God’s vision and take your seat of authority? Vision is all about others, not about us. It is aligning our vision with God’s vision for humanity. We may have a passion or see a need God wants us to fulfill for the kingdom using our gifts and talents. There is grace and power when we say yes to the Lord. For some, it will be a repositioning. We need to ask the Lord if this is where we’re supposed to be. And if not, ask Him to open doors so we are in the right place at the right time where God wants us positioned. So, not only are we getting out of things we need to get out of, but we are also placed into the mantle and the things that God wants to bring us into this season.

Are you ready to say yes to the Lord to fulfill your assignment, take your seat of authority, and receive your mantle?

Come to the Master’s table. The Lord Jesus is giving out assignments with a seat of authority, renewal of gifts, and new gifts at His table of communion and fellowship in the presence of our enemies (Psalm 23:5). There is grace for this season—God’s favor and enablement. God is waiting for our yes! God wants to clothe us with mantles for this next season. Receive your mantle from heaven!
