Jesus Christ was victorious over sin (Romans 6;14), death (1 Corinthians 15:55 – 57), and the devil (Colossians 2:14, 15) through His death on the cross, by His shed blood, His sacrifice, His resurrection and His ascension into heaven where He is seated at the right hand of the Father (Ephesians 1:20). As a believer in Christ, He has obtained this victory for us as well. Let’s look at what His victory has obtained for us.
There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death. Romans 8:1, 2 (NKJV)
No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it. 1 Corinthians 10:13 (NKJV)
We have redemption through His blood (Ephesians 1:7). In addition to being redeemed from sin, His blood also sets us free from the curse of the law i.e. death, sin, sickness, disease, poverty, lack, etc. so that the Blessing of Abraham might come upon us (Galatians 3:13, 14; Romans 6:23; Isaiah 53:4, 5; 2 Corinthians 8:9). We have fellowship with God because Jesus has reconciled us to the Father and we now have peace with God (Hebrews 10:19; Colossians 1:20). We have been given all spiritual blessings and all things that pertain to life and godliness through Christ Jesus (Ephesians 1:3; 2 Peter 1:3).
Through the blood of Jesus, we have authority over the devil (Revelation 12:11). Jesus has also given us authority and power over the devil through His name (Luke 10:19). We have not been given a spirit of fear, but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7).
God has given us spiritual weapons to enforce His victory in our lives because our enemy is not flesh and blood (2 Corinthians 10:3 – 5). No weapon formed against us shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17). He has given us His armor as protection and the Word of God which is an offensive weapon (Ephesians 6:12-18; Hebrews 4:12). Praise and worship are a spiritual weapon!
He has given us His Holy Spirit who is the greater One who lives inside us (1 John 4:4) and gives us the same power to walk victoriously that raised Christ from the dead (Romans 8:11)! Power and obedience are linked together. God’s angels also assist us (Hebrews 1:14). They excel in strength and heed the voice of the Lord to carry out His Word (Psalm 103:20). He is our hope and joy. Even His love, His peace and our faith in Him gives us the victory!
To them God willed to make known what are the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles: which is Christ in you, the hope of glory. Colossians 1:27 (NKJV)
This hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and steadfast, and which enters the Presence behind the veil, where the forerunner has entered for us, even Jesus having become High Priest forever according to the order of Melchizedek. Hebrews 6:19, 20 (NKJV)
Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. Romans 15:13 (NKJV)
“These things I have spoken to you, that My joy may remain in you, and that your joy may be full.” John 15:11 (NKJV)
Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? As it is written: “For your sake we are killed all day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.” Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 8:35-39 (NKJV)
Love has been perfected among us in this: that we may have boldness in the day of judgment; because as He is, so are we in this world. There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love. 1 John 4:17, 18 (NKJV)
For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world – our faith. Who is he who overcomes the world, but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God? 1 John 5:4, 5 (NKJV)
“These things I have spoken to you that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.” John 16:33 (NKJV)
I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. Philippians 4:13 (NKJV)
Now thanks be to God who always leads us in triumph in Christ and through us diffuses the fragrance of His knowledge in every place. 2 Corinthians 2:14 (NKJV)
Jesus is our victory therefore His victory is our victory. God’s plan is for us to be victorious through Christ. He doesn’t waste any experiences we have gone through. He is our hope and works all things out for our good (Romans 8:28, 31). Share with others who He is and what He has brought you through so they can receive the hope and victory that His salvation offers. Get your praise on!
